New mode for viewing other peoples creations in edit mode that aren’t remixable
I don’t put my full games up as remixable anymore, as someone can just republish the whole thing with a button. I’ve mentioned before. But I’d like to have another mode for things that you are ok for people to look at and learn how you did things. But not have it as remixable.
I have no problem with people looking about my level if it helps them. I’d love to have a snoop about other levels and learn techniques from them. Have it all be interactive and view it in edit mode and play around with the logic. But nothing can be saved out from it.
I’m sure loads of the community would be ok with putting it up in this mode for people to view how it was done. But don’t want people just taking it for their own 👍
Just want people to feel comfortable sharing without the fear (that we shouldn’t have😉) of people stealing hard work
Would just be a learning tool. The more people can learn from others, the better dreams we get👍
Another good thing that could come of this feature would be that friendly knowledgeable people from the community would maybe look at the level and send you a comment like, see where you did “this” here, did you know you can do “this” technique and might help improve the creation.
@YWWebb 's idea of having it be an option you can check similar to listed/unlisted I think would work for everyone. Could even default to having 'inspectable' unchecked so you don't do it by mistake - I can't imagine what objections anyone could have to the feature then.
I think @SPECTRABLADE seems worried this feature would be something implemented so that you could inspect any dream regardless of the creator's wishes.
I think @TAPgiles is saying it's already optional to have it playable or remixable so of course adding a new mode to that framework would be optional too.
That's what I'm talking about. It is already optional. If you upload a scene as "playable," no one can remix it and see inside the creation. So it's not forced on anyone.
What did you think I was talking about?
@TAPgiles, What are you talking about? That is not what he meant. He wants his scenes to be playable for everyone, but he doesn't want everyone to be peeping inside of his creations when he doesn't want to. He wants the feature to be optional and not forced on every creator.
@SECTRA: You can release a scene as playable/private and no one can look under the hood. So publishers/creators already have that ability.
At least make it optional for the publisher, not everyone want people peeping at their creations under the hood.
Completely unacceptable that this hasn't been the case #FreeTheDreams
@YWWebb 'Inspectable' sounds great! That would be the perfect name for the feature. :)
hey i've played your game before. Your logo was made out of stones. I completely agree with you DORIEN.
like a tool that records what you did and plays it back for someone who is curious.
I have an better idea a bunch of modes for learning how to make each part of something you made.
like the game would ask: "Would you like to learn; 1. modeling 2. music you know stuff like that.
that might take a while to implement, lets see if MM sees your idea.
I love this idea! Maybe a little check box called "inspect-able" similar to listed/unlisted
This mode is what I need.
I definitely think the biggest flaw in Dreams is the fact that 90% of levels end up being non-remixable, meaning you can't learn anything about how they were constructed!
