Dreams Bugs šŸœ

With such a huge suite of creative tools, you may encounter occasional bugs in Dreams. Itā€™s really helpful for us to hear about them! If you discover an issue in Dreams, please check to see if anyone else has reported the issue before and if someone has, comment on it with your experiences. If not, post a new bug report here!

Hereā€™s some top tips to help us track down your bug as quickly as possible:

ā€¢ Give us a brief, clear summary of the bug. If necessary let us know what you think should be happening that isnā€™t.
ā€¢ Let us know the exact steps we need to follow to recreate your bug. For example -
ā€œLoad game > go to create mode > search for banana > stamp ā€œsuper cool bananaā€ > the banana didnā€™t load!"
ā€¢ If possible it really helps if you can include a screenshot or video of the problem.
ā€¢ Let us know the release version of the game ā€“ you can find this by having the Dreams icon highlighted on the Playstation homescreen, pressing ā€œoptionsā€ and then ā€œinformationā€. The bit we want is the Version number!

  1. Unable to release music track as it says it's private

    I've made a level in dreams and I clicked on the music track I made for the level to save it as a separate asset, but I'm unable to publish it as it says it's private, both the level and the dream it's in are published online but if I update the level it says I have to change the options for that music which I am unable to do as there is no option to change it it's greyed out and clicking on it does nothing. the music plays fine in the level I'm just unable to publish itā€¦

  2. Sound Recorder seemingly disabled in Remote Play?

    In the Early Access builds of the game, you could use Remote Play to record audio through a different system's microphone, be it your smartphone or your PC (the latter being handy if your specific microphone isn't natively compatible with the PS4 system).

    This does not seem to be the case in the full game; if you try to use the Sound Recorder in Remote Play (it doesn't matter what device you're connecting from), the hula-scope that normally surrounds your Imp when recording audio does not show up, and nothing gets saved when you stop recording. Despite this, the Controllerā€¦

  3. No sound comes out of recorded wave

    When I use any sound recording device such as the PlayStation camera and also the original PS4 ear piece to record sound. It has the wave file of the audio I just recorded in the timeline but when I press play no sound comes out. This is just confusing because it's obviously picked up the sound from the mic to create the wave file. This is a big problem for me because I can't continue with my animation project. (I'm trying to make the character talk).

  4. Instrument inputs

    2 things.

    triggering a drum kit instrument via logic, the expected button input thru a music combiner has changed, it used to be 0 to 7, now it is -0.5 to 6.5 so hits are at .5 not the whole number.

    The course pitch tweak now expects input of -0.945 to 0.945 instead of -1 to 1.

    Are these deliberate changes?
    Also , why does a drum kit need to be set to sound fx type for the kit to respond to button / logic.

  5. Timeline preview does not reflect trimming of sound effects

    When a sound effect is placed in a timeline, and then you trim the end of the sound effect, that trimming is reflected when you scrub the play head, but if you press the Play button in the Timeline Preview controls at the bottom of the timeline, the full sound effect plays as if it was not trimmed.

    To reproduce, simply follow the Cinematic Sound Design tutorial. You can reproduce it at the end of step 2 of this tutorial.

  6. Piano roll window position causing trouble when playing notes in low octaves and window is pinned to screen

    When playing mostly very low key notes let's say around C1 you will most probably change the piano roll window to display the keys around the C1 octave most likely.

    When you pin the piano roll to screen and then switch to performance mode or slice viewer, the window can get out of view to the top since the anchor of the window is still around the original view before changing the octaves.

    If the window is still partially visible then you can stop performing, drag the window down and start performing again.
    But switching back to piano roll willā€¦

  7. Music mode has no sound

    I turned down the music playing on the homescreen in the preferences but now if I want to create music I have to turn it back up again because there is no sound to be heard. Surely the option to turn off the background music shouldn't affect the audio mode when creating?

    even after reporting the bug and MM knows about it and 1 update after the full release this bug still remains? it shouldn't take this long to fix a bug like this.

  9. Keyframes for audio instrument effects are not working.

  10. audio playback bug in a dream

    I have a published audio track which i then imported into a visualiser creation. The only additional audio gadget that i placed besides the timeline is the speaker i placed in the scene. The track plays fine until the last two bars, then one of the instuments does not play, or begins playing for the first half of the bar and then does not play for the rest of the bar.

    I actually deleted the creation and started a Fresh project, imported my published audio track but again, for the last two bars one of the instruments won't play. Ifā€¦

  11. Audio recorder gadget not working properly

    Please watch this and please give me some advice this is very frustrating! (Somewhere in the video you may see the gadget briefly pop up , I hit undo and brought the gadget back up but thereā€™s still no audio.. I also forgot to mention that it was working perfectly fine about a half hour before this)

  12. Trimmed sounds still play their full length sound.

    In the dreams cinematic sound design tutorial they ask you to apply a soundeffect to a falling block, and instruct you to trim the sound so that it doesn't go on past the animations end. But trimming sounds in this tutorial (but I'm guessing not the rest of the game? Or this would have been caught and fixed. Haven't tried sound design in the full editor yet) doesn't seem to work and the sound will still play for its original duration.

    Tldr trimming sounds doesn't work properly in the cinematic sound design tutorial

  13. Music bug

    I am creating a jazz band song in Dreams. There is a bug with the trumpet instrument. A#5 sometimes plays the right note and sometimes plays an octave lower. All notes above A#5 play an octave too low.

  14. There is a bug that occurs when a sound effect is turned into an instrument, then turned back into a sound effect.

    Boot game >
    start creating a new element ( was working on a character model) >
    open a microchip >
    record some audio >
    place some other gadget that accepts inputs (I tested a counter, a timer, and a signal manipulator) >
    Open recorded audio's tweak menu >
    Notice it is already a sound effect (the sound type setting on the bottom of the first page) >
    > Go to the outputs tweak page
    > Notice there are only two outputs, is playing and envelope
    > Change sound type to instrument, then check "outputs page again
    >There are now severalā€¦

  15. Visual of Oscillator on effect field

    There is a discrepancy between the wave shape graphic & the sound, the visual only changes above 50%, the sound seems fine.

    To be clear this is the oscillator tab of a effect field.

  16. Replacing an instrument with another instrument in timeline will list both instruments in Genealogy

    If you have a timeline and you drop an instrument, record performance and then replace the instrument of the clip you will have both instruments show up in genealogy although the first instrument doesn't exist anymore.

    Ways to reproduce:


    • Create a new scene

    • switch to audio mode

    • place down a timeline

    • search for an instrument

    • place it in the timeline

    • start performing and record your performance

    • play back and listen to the clip with current instrument

    • search for another instrument

    • place it on the existing clip

    • listen to the clip now with your new instrument

    • save the dream as element,ā€¦

  17. Can't Connect Music Timelines

    I have an intro musical timeline that is set to "on end trigger" to give power to another musical timeline for THAT timeline to loop. But when the first timeline ends, it gives no power to the other timeline at all. Is there something I need to do to give the second timeline power? Or is this a glitch that doesn't allow music to interconnect?

  18. Longer songs causing volume degrading

    For some random reason, my volume on a song I am working on using electric guitar solomaster seems to randomly drop. At my measure 60 I have an F4 that is playing at the volume I want, but instantly after, my exact same F on measure 61, the volume plummits down by practically 2 dynamics. I have to put 5 or 6 layers of the same not just to match the previous volume and its causing uneccessary clutter.

  19. Extending a timeline while editing a source element does not extend the timeline when the element is updated in scene.

    While working on an Audio-Visual scene, I used "Edit Source" to add a new section to a music timeline. After updating this element in the scene, I had to manually extend the timeline in order to make this new section a visible part of the timeline in scene.

  20. sound timeline preview doesn't play the right sound when using long recorded sound

    I also found at low fps(less than 30), the timeline doesn't work properly,especially when the clip s is 3 mins. it continues having power about 3s after it played all the sound should be played.
