Negative ruffle does nothing for paintings
Seems like it should be 0 - 100, as negative values have no effect.
Hi again TAPgiles
Thanks for raising this. Putting it in the database for the team to look at now.
I found out a case where it actually does something!!
Use the ruffle style tool with a volume brush to apply to individual flecks.
This instantly makes any flecks in the volume fully ruffled.
Now change the ruffle of the painting itself to negative, and it will lessen the ruffle of those individual ruffled flecks.
Ah I thought that may have been the case 😅
I’ve found negative ruffle does something interesting for sculpts. It shifts a percentage of the flecks 90 degrees. So instead of them all moving s as you move the slider, different ones ping at different values. Not sure what it’s useful for, but it’s... something?
My bad, I was grabbing the impasto slider :p
-100 ruffle does almost nothing to a sculpture either, the change is super subtle.
From my somewhat limited experience with paint, I would say that this may be a bug because it feels like it should ruffle in equal opposition to the positive values.
I'm happy to be proven wrong, so I can update my docs.
Just tried that out and couldn't see anything changing even on a ruled stroke. Am I doing it right? https://youtu.be/3ds6mVDf66k
Have you looked at the panting from the side? Maybe it’s different depending on the tool, but negative ruffle definitely affects a Ruled stroke. When viewed from the edge, at 0 the flecks are slightly angled, at -100 they for, a smooth flat surface.
