Dreams Bugs šŸœ

With such a huge suite of creative tools, you may encounter occasional bugs in Dreams. Itā€™s really helpful for us to hear about them! If you discover an issue in Dreams, please check to see if anyone else has reported the issue before and if someone has, comment on it with your experiences. If not, post a new bug report here!

Hereā€™s some top tips to help us track down your bug as quickly as possible:

ā€¢ Give us a brief, clear summary of the bug. If necessary let us know what you think should be happening that isnā€™t.
ā€¢ Let us know the exact steps we need to follow to recreate your bug. For example -
ā€œLoad game > go to create mode > search for banana > stamp ā€œsuper cool bananaā€ > the banana didnā€™t load!"
ā€¢ If possible it really helps if you can include a screenshot or video of the problem.
ā€¢ Let us know the release version of the game ā€“ you can find this by having the Dreams icon highlighted on the Playstation homescreen, pressing ā€œoptionsā€ and then ā€œinformationā€. The bit we want is the Version number!

  1. Physical Painting limit hit for 1 small painting

    Yesterday, I created a grass tile which uses logic to enable physical paintings when the puppet stands over 1 of multiple trigger zones. Worked like a dream (no pun intended) yesterday. Today, since the latest update, the same tile permanently hits a physical painting limit. So, I deleted all but one of the tufts of grass, removed duplicates, enabled physics for that 1 blade of grass and the limit is hit again!!! I've attached screenshots to show the problem (they are not merged paintings).

    Hi Tony Lee,

    Thank you for reporting the issue. We have logged a bug in the database.

    I would suggest trying to make the grass system again with a lot less flecks as the current one has. This one piece of grass has a lot of individual flecks. You can get a similar visual from just a few fleck strokes.

  2. Curve tool

    When you use the curve tool, in stamp mode, it often leaves a donut ring, between the centre two moving points (the ones you grab, to bend it). Even when moving the two points far away from each other, the donut bulge is still slightly there. I canā€™t get a smooth spike/curve at all.

  3. Boil effect seems to be tied to other effects.

    All effects than affect the opacity of the fleck (boil, flow, and evaporate) affect the speed of the boil. It's as if the highest value is used for the boil effect.

    So then if you have flow on 50% and boil is less than 50%, that boil setting does nothing, and visually the boil is at 50%.

  4. Update Mode Won't Let Me Select Object

    Tried playing my level through with headphones, only to realize there was a sound effect stamped somewhere in the scene I didn't want to play. So i went into Update mode, and pressed select object so I could delete the sound effect. Only every time I press select object, it just sends me back into edit mode without anything selected so I can't delete the sound. Please help!!! Is this a glitch, or am I doing something wrong?

  5. Paint is broken

    I had a sculpture of a cigarette with smoke trailing off of it and now the trail of smoke is completely gone without me even touching the thing. This bug started to happen a couple of weeks right after the vr update. Can I even trust this game to make a game???

    Do you have a link to your creation so we can take a look?

    Has this happened to more than one painting or just this specific one?

    Is it still happening with any new painted objects since the update?

  6. Can't live clone a painting

    When you create a live clone of a painting, edits made to one don't replicate in the other. Is this a bug or are you just unable to live clone paintings?

    Edit: Adding new brush strokes to a live clone is replicated, but deleting strokes is not. Changing settings in the tweak menu of a painting is also not replicated

  7. Detail level bug

    When I use the detail level tool on some of my rocks and ground asset the thermo goes up a couple of points even while the color is cooling down. Then after a few more clicks it will maybe reduce 1 point. Then it wonā€™t decrease anymore no matter how much I decrease the detail of my object. You can see for yourself in my early build of my game The Warriorā€™s Call. The rocks by the stream that are really high in thermo are some of the assets that do this. Thanks so much for your time.

  8. Negative vs positive shapes de-sync in sculpt mode

    Hi there! I think this may be a bug since I never encountered it before the VR update. When I am in sculpt mode, the negative and positive shapes are out of sync sometimes. For example, if I go into the default and change my positive shape to red and stretch it out, etc., when I switch the to the negative shape, it still has all the default settings (regular cube, default colour). They each operate independently now, and I donā€™t think they did before the VR patch. Thanks!

  9. painting is constantly disappearing

    Iā€˜ve painted a line, added movement and cloned it so it looks like hair. Iā€˜ve been grouping them so everything gets quicker, but now when I want to keep cloning, the hair Iā€˜ve cloned is there, but not visible. Sometimes when I change the camera perspective I can see the hair again, but when I change the perspective again, it disappears again.

  10. Paintings bug

    If you grab anything in a scene and then hold L1 while still grabbing. All Physical paintings in the scene show the paint stroke as itā€™s non effected static state and the physical moved/moving painting is still shown to and turns to low opacity.

    Thank you for the feedback, however we can confirm this is not an issue.
    This also occurs using the DS4.

    The reason is due to the fact that the title priorities the grid points over the grab points on the object. If you set the grid level to 1/32 it will still work with the grab point and snap to grid.

  12. Surface snap ignores preview during frame-by-frame animation

    During frame-by-frame animation in paint mode, previews appear showing the previous and/or next frame. This is extremely useful, but if surface snap is used the paint sticks to the preview and so floats above the sculpt!

  13. Paint physics broken

    When paint strokes are merged into one , physics seem to not work correctly.

    Before game release , when paint strokes was merged together they acted independent , you can see it in my creation of Lu Baba where skirt is made of individual pain strokes then added physics and after that one stroke is cloned several times and merged into one painting.
    So Lu babas skirt acts like real cloth.

    Now I can't do that as after strokes are merged strokes are broken.

  14. Cant take a photo mode photo through the active camera.

    When viewing my creation it uses the camera with depth of field and other blur settings. However when in photo mode you canā€™t posses a camera or ā€œuse camera angleā€ setting of some kind. This means my photo wonā€™t be blurred like is it in view mode. So the cover photo doesnā€™t actually look like the camera view.

  15. Looser sculpt edits affect physics

    From the generated physics spheres, it looks like it should have the exact same collision and simulation as an identical edit with no looseness to it, but it seems to unbalance it somehow?

    I expected it to not care about the looseness of an edit, as the underlying geometry is identical, but it definitely looks like some sort of unquantifyable effect is going on.

  16. Surface snap takes into account preview during frame-by-frame animation

    During frame-by-frame animation in paint mode, previews appear showing the previous and/or next frame. Onion peeling is very useful, but if surface snap is used the paint sticks to the onion peel preview and so floats above the sculpt!

  17. Style Ruffle tool used with the volume brush to affect individual flecks of a painting makes them instantly fully ruffled

    It would be very useful to be able to add a touch of ruffle here and there, and it would be consistent with other per-fleck volume brush tools.

  18. Exiting a tweaked sculpt

    While the tweak menu is open for a sculpt that you're scoped into, pressing L1 + circle while hovering over the sculpt closes the tweak menu instead of exiting sculpt mode.

  19. Toggling between additive and subtractive sculpting also switches the shape my imp holds to a slightly older version or base cube

    I found this in version 2.09, via DreamShaping > Sculpt Mode > Stamp Tool > Shape Editor > edit shape > Stamp Tool > Toggle Add/sub. It used to be that pressing triangle while placing a form in sculpt mode would maintain the same shape that my imp was holding but switch from additive to subtractive. Now it seems like when i press that button it switches between two completely different instances of the shape, so edits i make to the form when it's additive don't apply to the negative form. It's a minor thing but it seems like aā€¦

  20. Paint flecks stopped behaving since update

    Previously, I could turn on surface snap and stay upright and the fleck would stay oriented to my move controller as I paint. Now, the fleck won't stay oriented and as I paint, it does cartwheels.
    Paint mode was already extremely frustrating for any sort of detailed work, but now it's impossible.
