Dreams Bugs šŸœ

With such a huge suite of creative tools, you may encounter occasional bugs in Dreams. Itā€™s really helpful for us to hear about them! If you discover an issue in Dreams, please check to see if anyone else has reported the issue before and if someone has, comment on it with your experiences. If not, post a new bug report here!

Hereā€™s some top tips to help us track down your bug as quickly as possible:

ā€¢ Give us a brief, clear summary of the bug. If necessary let us know what you think should be happening that isnā€™t.
ā€¢ Let us know the exact steps we need to follow to recreate your bug. For example -
ā€œLoad game > go to create mode > search for banana > stamp ā€œsuper cool bananaā€ > the banana didnā€™t load!"
ā€¢ If possible it really helps if you can include a screenshot or video of the problem.
ā€¢ Let us know the release version of the game ā€“ you can find this by having the Dreams icon highlighted on the Playstation homescreen, pressing ā€œoptionsā€ and then ā€œinformationā€. The bit we want is the Version number!

  1. text displayer can be moved even when the text displayers option aint open or hasnt been selected.

what it use to be was to move a text box you need to select it or open its menu, now while in play mode you can always move it no matter what, this is annoying when its a big text box on the screen and always getting in the way of interacting with anything else.

  2. Wire Blend on Wireless Transmitter is Broken

    Please see attached photo...

    On the first microchip:

The wireless transmitterā€™s input is set to ā€œWire Blend - Blendā€ so itā€™s averaging out the inputs (0.5 and 1.0) as 0.75 and displaying it properly on the gadget itself (75% of the gadget is filled).

However, the wireless receiver is receiving the sum of these values (0.5 and 1.0) and as a result, it is outputting 1.5.

    On the second microchip:

Iā€™m using an intermediate value slider before sending the signal into the wireless transmitter.

Again, itā€™s averaging the inputs (0.5 and 1.0) as 0.75, displaying it on the value slider,ā€¦

  3. persistent variables+ global reset is very buggy

If you set a variable as persistent and reset on rewind off and use global scene reset. the variables will only sometimes hold their values but even weirder they start skipping around their number order and if they are below the initial value they may reset to initial value OR jump to a random value its very buggy. I made a twitr video and remixable example

  4. "And-Gate" + "Wireless Transmitors" Problem

    step1:
create two wirless transmitors, and one reciever with the same name/tag. make them being able to communicate with each other in the settings.

    step2:
connect one transmitor with a active signal and observe the reciever getting turned on.

    step3:
than connect an AND-gate with the second transmitor and the signal will be cut off to 0. (which is the issue)

    step4:
connect one of the AND-gate inputs with a signal it stops being cut and the signal gets through again. even though just one of the AND-gates inputs is connected/active. (extra)

  6. Platforming shadow broken in Launch Version

In Early Acces I made a character with platforming shadow turned on.
I also edited all his seperate limbs and bodyparts to cast no shadow.
    This worked exactly as expected.
The character had a platfoming shadow directly under him, and no other shadows.

After updating to Launch Version, I noticed the character doesn't cast a shadow at all anymore. No normal shadow, but also no platforming shadow.

    To see what I mean:

    >Place a standard or deluxe puppet in a scene
    >Turn on Platforming Shadow in the controller gadget
    >Activate "cast no shadow" on all his individual bodyparts
    >Along withā€¦

  7. No gizmo for Teleporter when affected object is a logic gadget

When a Teleporter gadget's affected object tweak is wired to another logic gadget, the Teleporter gadget has no gizmo.

    Repro steps:

    1. Create a Teleporter.

    2. Create another logic gadget - I used a microchip.

    3. Open the Teleporter's tweak menu.

    4. Wire the Teleporter's affected object tweak to the logic gadget you created in step 2.

    Observed: No Teleporter gizmo appears.

    Expected: Teleporter gizmo appears.

And to take it further and show that the Teleporter gizmo is something important that we need for this case:

    1. Create a Tag.

    2. Start time.

Observed: The logic gadget created in step 2 teleports to a point aā€¦

  8. Teleporter gizmo reset bug from early access still present

    • place a sculpt

    • surface snap a microchip on it and open it

    • place a teleporter into the microchip

    • tweak the teleporter and move its gizmo away from the center of the sculpt

    • Now move the teleporter gadget inside the microchip a little

    • the teleporter gizmo will snap back to the center position of the sculpt

  9. Wire nodes become invisible and prevent michrochip window to be shortened

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyOzahUOdUI

    • Moving a gadget, that is wired into something else and have wire nodes placed, into a second microchip, doesn't seem to move the nodes with it but rather makes them invisible?

    • After that you can not shorten the microchip window to a specific point.

    • moving the gadgets and then trying to shorten the window makes it jump

    • Only fix is to bring back the gadget into the microchip where the wire nodes were set and delete the nodes.

  10. Keyframing A Signal Manupulator's Signal type (ease-in, clamp values ext) Doesnt show which one you are chaning it to

The only thing you have to go by is either remembering the order of the list, or looking at the shape of the output signal.

  11. Controller sensor player number does not set correctly with wires

    1. Placed a controller sensor on an object with buttons activating movers, etc.

    2. Set the possession mode to remote control and player number to Player 2 only.

    3. Set up a counter that, when full outputs a signal to activate Player 1 input and deactivate Player 2 input (using NOT gate).

    4. Observe that when counter is changed, Player 1 and Player 2 light up in the correct circumstances.

Bug: Even when Player 1 is lit up and Player 2 is not, Player 2 still controls the sensor. The default player number setting is used despite the wired inputs and the appearance ofā€¦

  12. No text animation after copying text from one gadget to another

I found out by accident that text can be copied from a text displayer to a dialogue displayer or vice versa (You have to select the empty displayer, open the tweak menu on the displayer that contents the text you want to copy, open the "enter text" field and close it again with R2). I assume that is an intended function.

I was hoping to copy quite a lot of text files this way to be able to use the options of the dialogue displayer. Unfortunately it seems to interpret the copied text as one letter as it displays theā€¦

  14. Follower Gadget Center based on Sculpture Detail

I posted a bug a few months ago and I didn't see that Pawel F. Replied asking for a Dream or Video showing the bug on February 6th until now. I'm really sorry. But I captured a quick 30s video showing exactly how it's bugged.

    https://youtu.be/bz5gd7YmMes

    Is this link good enough?

Basically the bug is that when the sculpture detail is lowered, the Follower gadget center is pushed around. Compared to the Teleporter gadget where it stays rock solid in the middle, no matter the sculpture detail.

I'm not sure if other gadgets are effected but it's worth looking into.

  15. Graveyard crow does not open beak when cawing. Odd wire in sound element OUTPUT page

I was looking at the Graveyard Crow element you get as a prize from the Imp Quest for Lighting & Atmosphere Tutorial. Looking at the sound element inside its head, I noticed there is a wire running from it to the timeline with the open beak animation, but whenever the sound played the timeline wouldn't start.
Looking at the second to last page on the sound gadget (OUTPUTS), there is an extra wire sticking out of a tag on the right side of the page at the very top. This tag is blank.
Taking out the wire and plugging itā€¦

  16. Discrepency in camera gadget between FOV value and what is displayed on slider

There is a mismatch in the FOV slider for the camera. the entered value and the slider do not correlate at the lowest values.

    1) place and open camera gadget
    2) use 'enter value' to set FOV angle to 9Āŗ
    3) slider will read 10Āŗ instead
    4) use Dpad to increase slider to 11
    5) go into 'enter value' again, value will be 11Āŗ

Interestingly enough, typing 10 in 'enter value' will show 10Āŗ on the slider

  17. text displayer wonkyiness bug

if i get a text displayer and set wonkiness to 100 it rotates up slightly then if i get a new one and do the samething it rotates down slightly.

its random which way wonkiness rotates and it always seems to mirror from the last one but why cant i make both wonkiness look the exactly the same? even when i copy the first text it ways seems to wonkyiness the other direction when i want both to be the same.

wonkiness is useless for making UI health since wonkiness can never be the same for multiple text displayers ifā€¦

  18. Inability to select a Text Displayer gadget in front of its textbox

When using a text displayer gadget with a textbox positioned in world space, the player is unable to interact with the gadget as long as it covers the textbox in screen space. The desired interaction would take into account which one is in front.

Recreation video file is attached below.

To recreate this, put a Text Display gadget down, set the textbox to be "in scene". Scale the textbox up, and position behind the gadget.

  19. Bug with slider not obeying limits when encompassing group is rotated and tightness at 100%.

I attached a slider connector between two cubes, and grouped with another object. When I rotate the whole group with a Rotator, and when the tightness of the slider is 100%, the cube attached to the slider ends up travelling outside the bounds of the slider limits, and keeps on going.
NB. the cube does still respect the plane restraint of the slider, but not the distances.

Expected behaviour: The slider object does not move except to rotate with the parent group.

Actual usage: I was making a read-write switch on a 3 inch floppy disk, attaching the switch toā€¦
