Dreams Bugs šŸœ

With such a huge suite of creative tools, you may encounter occasional bugs in Dreams. Itā€™s really helpful for us to hear about them! If you discover an issue in Dreams, please check to see if anyone else has reported the issue before and if someone has, comment on it with your experiences. If not, post a new bug report here!

Hereā€™s some top tips to help us track down your bug as quickly as possible:

ā€¢ Give us a brief, clear summary of the bug. If necessary let us know what you think should be happening that isnā€™t.
ā€¢ Let us know the exact steps we need to follow to recreate your bug. For example -
ā€œLoad game > go to create mode > search for banana > stamp ā€œsuper cool bananaā€ > the banana didnā€™t load!"
ā€¢ If possible it really helps if you can include a screenshot or video of the problem.
ā€¢ Let us know the release version of the game ā€“ you can find this by having the Dreams icon highlighted on the Playstation homescreen, pressing ā€œoptionsā€ and then ā€œinformationā€. The bit we want is the Version number!

  1. Platforming shadow broken in Launch Version

    In Early Acces I made a character with platforming shadow turned on.
    I also edited all his seperate limbs and bodyparts to cast no shadow.
    This worked exactly as expected.
    The character had a platfoming shadow directly under him, and no other shadows.

    After updating to Launch Version, I noticed the character doesn't cast a shadow at all anymore. No normal shadow, but also no platforming shadow.

    To see what I mean:

    >Place a standard or deluxe puppet in a scene
    >Turn on Platforming Shadow in the controller gadget
    >Activate "cast no shadow" on all his individual bodyparts

  2. the creating character's quests is bugged maybe?

    the creating character's quests says i need to completed 2 character tutorials, i have both done 2/2 which should unlock the character accessory kit but when i goto that kit the items are still locked.

    is this a bug or just a misunderstanding?

  3. New stick controls don't move imp whilst grabbing forward or in depth

    I had to switch back to motion controls to complete second / new gameplay tutorial teaching you about imp gameplay.

    I followed but was unable to move the ball forward to drop into pipe with the new stick controls.

    I could do it with the motion control setting so assume a bug.

    You can't move the imp in depth whilst grabbing with the new stick controls.

  4. No gizmo for Teleporter when affected object is a logic gadget

    When a Teleporter gadget's affected object tweak is wired to another logic gadget, the Teleporter gadget has no gizmo.

    Repro steps:


    1. Create a Teleporter.

    2. Create another logic gadget - I used a microchip.

    3. Open the Teleporter's tweak menu.

    4. Wire the Teleporter's affected object tweak to the logic gadget you created in step 2.

    Observed: No Teleporter gizmo appears.

    Expected: Teleporter gizmo appears.

    And to take it further and show that the Teleporter gizmo is something important that we need for this case:


    1. Create a Tag.

    2. Start time.

    Observed: The logic gadget created in step 2 teleports to a point aā€¦

    Hello EternalDarknessz,

    Thanks for this post. There is a ticket for this in our database already.

    You can still access these options by going to you
    profile and selecting your creations and the options to archive and delete should be present on the right side of the text entry box.

    However we did allow players to have access to these options when going through Dreamshaping.

    This issue should be address in an upcoming patch.

  6. Teleporter gizmo reset bug from early access still present


    • place a sculpt

    • surface snap a microchip on it and open it

    • place a teleporter into the microchip

    • tweak the teleporter and move its gizmo away from the center of the sculpt

    • Now move the teleporter gadget inside the microchip a little

    • the teleporter gizmo will snap back to the center position of the sculpt

  7. Timeline preview does not reflect trimming of sound effects

    When a sound effect is placed in a timeline, and then you trim the end of the sound effect, that trimming is reflected when you scrub the play head, but if you press the Play button in the Timeline Preview controls at the bottom of the timeline, the full sound effect plays as if it was not trimmed.

    To reproduce, simply follow the Cinematic Sound Design tutorial. You can reproduce it at the end of step 2 of this tutorial.

  8. persistent variables+ global reset is very buggy

    If you set a variable as persistent and reset on rewind off and use global scene reset. the variables will only sometimes hold their values but even weirder they start skipping around their number order and if they are below the initial value they may reset to initial value OR jump to a random value its very buggy.   9. Intermittent issues changing grip points via move controllers (PS3 Moves)

    Since the latest full release update I have intermittent problems trying to change grip. Pressing the circle button also scales the object and the two settings seem to be fighting each other. Change grip flickers on and off as does the scale setting, however, sometimes it works better than others, but the whole thing is 'off' compared to early access. Even when it does work, it can throw the imp miles from the object and it becomes challenging. Not intuitive anymore at all.

    I am using the PS3 Moves and have swapped both over to function as the off hand.ā€¦

    Sorry that your having problems with the Motion controllers.

    We have had a few reports of the behaviour changing or being less responsive in regards to changing grip points.

    Were tracking an issue for this in our database.

  10. Homespace tutorial Welcome Home Prizes no longer accessible

    The Welcome Home Prizes that you earn during the homespace tutorial (Welcome Home Bathroom/Bedroom/Room/Kitchen/Exterior/Moods and Music) are now locked and say Not Yet Collected. I cleared out my homespace in hopes to move things around a bit. But when I went back to add them back to my homespace I wasn't able to use them again.

  11. Sound effect plays if šŸ…±ļø key is pressed on physical keyboard

    I have a scene that contains a looping sound effect with granular randomization and various other settings. If I hold the šŸ…±ļø key on my physical keyšŸ…±ļøoard it causes the sound to play even though editor time is stopped and the tweak menu is closed.

    I wasnā€™t able to get this to occur with any other sounds I stamped down. Deleting the sound and pressing undo caused this to stop happening.

    What could šŸ causing this? Perhaps some dešŸ…±ļøug shortcut that snuck into the final game? Well, šŸ…±ļø seeing you!

  12. Canā€™t take a photo of logic for cover pages

    I want to take a snapshot of my custom gadget so people will can see what it looks like, but I canā€™t see the option to toggle ā€œshow logicā€ in photo mode anymore.

    Glad that information helped,

    The reason the prompt isn’t there via this flow is that your loaded into the scene in play mode not edit mode. Only in edit mode can the user hide and un-hide gadgets.

    I will raise an issue for that particular flow not clearly identifying which mode your in when going through the cover of a creation.

  13. Bug? Second player's imp controls wont change

    When trying to change the imp controls to left-right stick it only changes on player 1 while player 2 remains unchanged.

  14. Local grid and edit shape mode

    First off, for future reference, if we encounter bugs that we know were acknowledged during EA, but are not mentioned in the "known issues too late to fix for release" document, should we re-report them? Is that list comprehensive?

    Anyway, this is one such bug. As you can see in the video, I can't accurately edit the sculpts shape as it resizes when I leave edit shape mode.

  15. The homespace 'no music' gadget does not work

    During homespace tutorial I stamped down a welcome home music gadget, then after the tutorial I deleted it and placed the one that is supposed to disable music. The (I think) default homespace music still plays. I've tried deleting and re-placing the gadget but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

  16. Switch's "On/Off" button's short tooltip displays gadget name

    Create a Switch gadget. Tweak it, and hover the imp over the "On/Off" button. The "On/Off" text displays next to the imp as expected.

    Give the Switch gadget a name.

    Hover the imp over the "On/Off" button again, and observe that the gadget's name is displayed overlapping the "On/Off" text. This only happens in the short tooltip above the button prompts, not in the longer tooltip that appears in a black box on a long-hover.

  17. Artā€™s Dream, The Gathering Storm progression blocker

    In The Gathering Storm scene of Artā€™s Dream, when I reached the part where I have to pull down the wood, the left piece of wood was not grabbable. I had to rewind the scene, it worked the second time.

  18. Text displayer Sort Order maximum value

    This setting allows super high numbers that seem to bug out, as if going beyond the proper precision. For example, you can enter 9999999 and then go up 1, but not go down 1; you have to go down 2 by holding the decrement control. But some numbers below there also bug out, sticking to 2s, things like that.

    I'm guessing the upper limit just isn't being capped properly.

  20. Wire nodes become invisible and prevent michrochip window to be shortened

    • Moving a gadget, that is wired into something else and have wire nodes placed, into a second microchip, doesn't seem to move the nodes with it but rather makes them invisible?

    • After that you can not shorten the microchip window to a specific point.

    • moving the gadgets and then trying to shorten the window makes it jump

    • Only fix is to bring back the gadget into the microchip where the wire nodes were set and delete the nodes.
