  1. Storing compressed data in variables?

    Sorry if it was answered before. Couldn't find it.

    So, let's say, I want to store 4 numbers in one persistent variable (1234) then split them into separate numbers and use them to other things.

    How can I do that? If I wire a variable to a splitter, there's many things but not number splitting.

    Also, are there any good/known ways of compressing data in persistent variables? I would be grateful. Thanks!

  2. Is there a way to make a running total score, while not allowing cheating?

    I realise I can use a persistent variable to track a 'total score', but does does not prevent someone from going back to a previous level in the dream and replaying it to add more to that value.

    The only solution I can see is to have 30 variables (one for each level) and then the 'total' is just the sum of those variables, but I think I might just not have a total score at all because that's too much work for little gain.

  3. How to make a character select screen

    This is a bit of a weird one. I am needing to make a character select screen. A way to pick how many players, 2-4. Everyone would be using one controller as it is turn based.

  4. How do I multiple Signal Receiver

    If I have 2 or more signal receivers / transmitters sending different values using the same name. Because they need to be cloned. One is outputting 1.00 and the other is 3.00 and since both of the receivers need to be overlapping. The resulting signal isn't multiplied. It's actually in between so a 1.50

    So is there a way to have it multiple sending a 4.00 instead of the 1.50?

  5. Stop emitted object moving?

    How do we stop an already emitted object from moving? For example I want it to stop after a few seconds or if the emitted object detects a wireless signal.

  6. Make it switch to next player

    This is a bit of a weird one I think and yes I'm at trying something different again and of course I gotta run into issues and not know what I'm doing.

    So anyhow...... I'm trying to make a trivia game. My thought is to make a puppet move as sort of a playing piece whenever you get a correct answer. I made one trivia question as a test and wired the correct response to a microship which has my "move a block away" logic in it. Mission accomplished, If I answer correctly I have it move one block ahead,ā€¦

  7. Two fold question.

    I have two questions:


    1. Is there any reference guide to how much thermo is used by each gadget? I am just curious how much thermo say a dialogue gadget uses.


    2. Is there a way to organize the My creations section of dreamshaping?
      I tried making a collection but they still stay outside the collection in the main "My Creations" area also. Is there any way to make them just be in a collection and not take up space in the the main area?

  8. Create a button-controlled puppet from the open-mouth tutorial

    I've followed the video on creating an opening and closing mouth. I want to turn this isn't a 'sock puppet' where I can move the head with the Move controller and open/close the mouth with a button. Following on from this thread to make a sock-pupet:

    I put a Controller Settings chip on the bottom jaw with Follow Imp and wire the button (L1) to the mouth open/close keyframes. When I take possession of the bottom-jaw in play mode, the button moves the top jaw but the top is completely misplaced inside the bottom jaw and opens/closes at theā€¦

  9. Is it possible to stop a timeline (at any point by the player) and play it backward from that point? Or the other way around?

    I'm trying to create a garage door that goes up and comes down. The easy way of doing this would be two separate timelines, activated by some button in the scene, that disable the button while they're being played, so that each animation can just to completion before the next interrupts it.

    But I want the more realistic way: which is you could interrupt the animation at any time and play the other animation going the other way from exactly that point, so there's no interruption.

    It's easy to play in reverse by using a count up and a countā€¦

  10. Controller Camera Ease-in-Out

    Iā€™ve created Zones in my levels where I want to change the controller camera settings like camera distance and camera height. I donā€™t want to use a camera pointer as you lose camera control.

    So Iā€™ve done the rig to remotely send a signal even got the new value sent across. But when I plug those values into the camera distance input, it basically jumps to the value, causing a camera glitch. I added a signal manipulator to the trigger zone using ease in and out on the advanced tab - but that didnā€™t work as expected as it seemsā€¦

  11. Use action/possession recorders on a possessed puppet?

    Trying to make an opening cut scene for an area and i can't get action recorders or possession recorders to control my puppet while it's possessed but i want forced possession! I was wanting to have my character walk out of a building up a slope (with default camera) and THEN have the setup scene cameras preview the level! So atm i have control over my character until the cameras start! Any ideas of how to help me?

    Sorry for asking again. I didn't explain my question well last time:
    I want to my imp grabs the ball, aim somewhere, and release it. Something like the screenshot below, but I don't know how aiming.
    In a post, I saw someone used Force Applier with Advance Rotator for a cannon and thought that it could be used for the ball too, but it still didn't work.

  13. Animation Sit Up Resistance

    Say you are making a character do a "sit up" by repeatedly pressing a button. How would you make the animation(timeline) fall back until you continue pressing the button again.. if this makes sense

  14. How do I cancel an animation?

    I am making a combo system for my fighting game. I have it figured out on my main character and it works well, but I am having an issue with animating the enemy getting hit. I have created different hit animations and used variables to tell the enemy which animation to play.

    The problem is, the enemy is still playing the first hit animation in the combo when the second hit animation starts up, resulting in a blend between the 2 animations. Is there any way to cancel the first animation when the second attack in the chain hits?

  15. Tweaking force applier based on sculpture settings

    I'm doing a grab and then push/pull. So far it's working great, however (yes there is a but), the force applier completely ignores any friction or gravity of the sculpture object, so I can push a giant block just as easily as a small block. I've even taken the strength down to 75% and then doubled the m/s speed, so now it takes a bit to startup but I can still push the blocks no matter how large they are.

    Funny thing is that if I push a smaller block INTO a large block, the collision detects all the frictionā€¦

  16. doorway activated output and its checkpoint keeps triggering when it shouldnt.

    when i goto a scene in my creations list and in play mode the doorway activated power out keeps triggering when the doorway was never used.

    doorways and their checkpoints should only activate in a dream map.
    the scene is in a dream map but im not playing it in there.

    is it possible that once i activated the doorway from a dream map then it will always be activated outside of the map? i cant turn it off and when the puppet dies it spawns at the door and not at the default location.

  18. Controllable Color Customizer

    I'm working on an action RPG game where player can customize their character but I'm having trouble creating a mechanic to allow them to customize their colors. I plan on using three sliders, one that controls the hue cycle, a second for the tint amount, and a third for the brightness. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

  19. How to check impact of a painting

    Hi there awesome Dreams community!

    I'm trying to make a useable water cannon on top of a firetruck to put out some fires. For the water stream I used a animated painting and made it stuck to a sculpture. The sculpture is movable through a advanced rotator. That setup works fine.

    Now I struggle with checking whether the water painting hit the fire. I tried impact sensors and trigger zones but that didn't work so far.

    Do you have an idea how to do that?

  20. Health modifier not modifying

    I am all over the place today. Lol. First trivia now my other level.... I think there's something a matter with me when it comes to this game..... Ugh.

    Annnnnywho:

    I have a section in my level, inside a building, where when u enter a certain checkpoint area it sends a signal to start a timeline. This timeline makes lava raise up through the building and you gotta jump on platforms and things of the sort to eventually get to a platform above the lava then continue on through the level rest of the area.
