Just to make sure I understand, where the bolt attaches to the object is completely irrelevant?  All that matters is where the pink round thing is? (or whatever color, I can't remember)

I was using the shape I was talking about more as an example of a concept than a specific shape.  I'm trying to wrap my head around this.

I don't do "subtracting", lol.  My brain doesn't work that way.  I'm trying to figure out how to create objects by manipulating and combining....but the tools don't seem capable of that.

I don't understand how to use the primitives to make precise cuts.  The same limitations that prevent me from corner editing a sculpt, also don't let me corner edit a primitive.  Which pretty much means I have to free-hand the cut......So how to I get the precise angles I need?

The last thing I did before I saved the cube was make sure it was aligned...but I was using the "1" level grid the entire time I was doing any grabbing, so any movement would have been very obvious.

When I imported the object into the new level, I also "shook" it in the grid to make sure it was all matched up.  Again, I was only using a 1/2 grid so any movement would have been obvious.

As for aligning the grid to the object....I'm not sure why in the Sam Heck would you ever want that?  I want my objects snapped into the level grid, not all wonky on their own.

THIS SHOULD HAVE READ: "All the flipped over blocks are slightly mis-aligned with the rest of the NON-flipped blocks. They rest ever-so-slightly higher.

Then I don't understand what I am doing wrong. Whenever I turn on the grid, it forces the cylinder tool off 45 degrees verticle and 45 degrees horizontally as soon as I move it.

I do not know what you mean by precise move.

That's what I'm saying, quietly. I'd like to sculpt with the grid on, but the flat surfaces of cylinders and donuts don't align to the grid.

DO NOT move the sculpt while scoped in after you paint it. You aren't painting the sculpt, you're painting the space. If you are scoped into tge sculpt and move it, you'll leave the paint behind and have to repaint it.

Same thing when you subtract from sculpts. If you are scoped in, "cut" part if it out and then move it, you leave the cuts behind.

Once you've done any painting or editing of you sculpt, you have to scope out to "object/group" level before moving it.

Yes and yes! Would love to know this. Rounding off sharp edges vexes me.

I don't have high hopes for a corner editor. I think they want us to use a wedge and blend up to the angle we need. But don't trust me on that.

The only ways I can think of doing this is to either punch out a curve using the cylinder, or create one small block, clone it, move the clone to where you want the curve to end, then add clones between them until it forms a solid line, then twist your wrist to make a curve.

It just did it to me with subtractions as well. So nothing can be moved in sculpt mode, I guess.

    Sigh.

That's what I did at first until I learned you can't subtract from multiple sculpts at once. So trying to make consistent changes across all if it was insane, lol. Something like 20 cuts that had to be precisely matched.

Even better way of saying it, it's like your projecting a movie on a sreen out side. As you move the screen away the screen is blank and the movie can no longer be seen

    No and no, lol.

Side note, if I'm not explaining well. The paint isn't visible unless the piece is in the area I painted.

    A) I'm scoped into the sculpture
    B) Not separate sculpts. The invidual shapes within the same sculpt. (So far I'm just stacking squares and triangles)
    C) This is spray painting while scoped in.

    So I. ..
    1. Scope in to the sculpture
    2. Move the triangle shaped trim to the side.
    3. Spray paint it red
    4. The spray paint stays behind when I move the triangle back.

In fact, it's half painted when I'm half out of the painted area but only visible where the triangle is. Like an image from a movie projector onlu half on the screen

Does the grid work while painting? If so, build a large, flat surface as a canvas.

    Paint mode
    Pick the brusk fleck mode
    Pick your fleck
    Pick your color
    Scale down small as possible
    Turn on surface lock
    Paint your line
    Delete the "canvas"

Yeah. They showed this in the tutorial. You just have to scope into it and select the edit option on the right.
