    Thanks, Charlotte!

The ability to work with a global team has been a very power part of Dreams' appeal. I know Team Pig Detective isn't the only group doing it.

I'm really hoping this problem can be sorted out eventually. Granting us greater control over text displayer's language settings would be great.

But in the meantime, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to explain the issue. We'll do our best to work around it for now. :-)

    Hi Charlotte!

I'm in America, playing in English. Sebastian is in Germany, but his language settings are set to English (possibly UK, he's away right now and not sure if there's a difference in game).

    Hi Jack,

I appreciate you guys looking into it. It's a very prevalent bug for us, so I'm not sure what it is that we're doing differently.

When opening our scene https://indreams.me/scene/dUasYmXdaLD is there no way to search for both text strings to see where bogus info could be hiding? Or is this more likely a local memory problem?

We are each seeing our own version of the text despite adding other updates to the scene.

    I tried editing it:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyaQv2MauSU

And then Sebastian checked out the file as well:

    https://youtu.be/HPt5DZX_qhU

It shows him as saving it publicly, but he released it afterwards so you can take a look.

I'm sorry this is so hard to pin down. But it happens to us on almost every collaboration, so it would be really appreciated if we can find a solution. 🙏

    Hi

We’ve not heard back from you in a while over this issue.

If it’s still occurring for you, could you respond with any additional information that could help us to investigate this for you.

    Many thanks,
    PeteS

Are you editing it while time is playing? It won't walk if time is stopped.

If you're using a DS4, you can start time by pressing the left joystick in (L3).

This bug has been around since Early Access. I believe it was accepted as a known bug then, but I can't find the pre-release bug posts to confirm.

Anything we can do to solve it would really help us out. I'm working on a large project with some collaborators, and this is routinely a major headache for us.

    Appreciate all the hard work!

    Andy

Why use an inverted signal manipulator when you can use a NOT gate?

Also, make sure you have the right Y stick axis. I seem to recall that they can be inverted.

Edited to add: Nevermind. I see, as you said, that your down signal is working while on the ground. But since it isn't while in the air, it seems like maybe there's a problem with some other logic interfering. As Tap said, it's too hard to tell from the photos.

Can't you make it so it's only movable while grabbed and then it reverts back to immovable as soon as you let go?

Edited to add: For the record, I posted this before that random Aecert guy said the same thing on twitter. 👍

Sounds like you'll either need to use two separate emitters, or generate movement via another method, like followers set to move away from a centralized tag.

    Hello DrinkWater200,

Sorry for the delay in getting to this post.

As a sculpt gets larger code will change the flecks in order to accommodate the sculpts increasing surface volume.

The best advice for making large pieces of terrain would actually be to make the environment with slightly smaller pieces of terrain and clone them multiple times. Clones will be more cost effective on the thermometers. As pointed out by AndymationB .

You can also use the stretch tool to increase your sculpt and then as stated by TAPgiles, use the Sculpt detail tool to increase its detail. this will recalculate the flecks and may allow you to claw some detail back.

If the sculpt detail tool does not have any effect on your sculpt then its lightly as been maxed out.

    Hopefully this information has helped,

    Thank you for your post.

The size of the flecks depends on the level of detail in the sculpture. You can use the sculpture detail tool to increase the detail, which will increase the amount of grassy flecks, thereby making them smaller.

However, this will consume more of your graphics thermometer. You may be better served making a small-medium sized piece of grass land and cloning it multiple times.

Since the full release, some of my puppet's limbs have been resized bizarrely. If you open them up in edit mode, you'll see they look nothing like their cover photos.

I opened up quite a few puppets, but not all of them. Most seemed fine, thankfully.

    Thanks!

This is the "How to" section. You probably want to bring this up in the Dreams Feedback section. If you search for teleporters there, you'll see there's several threads already asking for this feature. I agree it would make life a lot easier.

As a workaround for now, you can emit a tag at coordinates and teleport to that tag.

I'm not totally sure if you're also talking about the UI part of displaying the ranks, but as far as tracking, I can only think of a really complex solution. You'd need a series of tags around the course, and laser scopes in each car that transmit the distance to that tag. You'd also need zones immediately after each tag to tell the cars to switch to the next scope.

Or alternately you could try a series of zones with falloffs.

Thermos can be misleading. There is a 10 door limit, so they bump the gameplay thermo by 10% for each one, but there's still plenty of space in the other gameplay limits. I don't know if you saw the under-the-hood stream, but it talked a bit about the sub-thermos we can't see yet.

If your gameplay thermo is maxxed, you must have hit one of the other limits. If you click on the thermo, does it give you specific feedback?

If you haven't tried manually controlling the connector rotation via the connector tweak menu, I would give it a try. You could just plug a value slider into it and then keyframe the value slider if you can't figure out another way to get a 0-1 value into it smoothly.

    cgCody's rig is legit.

I have no experience making vehicles, but I know if you have limits set on a connector, you can input a 0-1 signal into the angle position (or called something like that) in the connector tweak menu. Maybe move them that way instead of via keyframe?

If you go into style mode (it's the purple S), there is a comb tool that you can use. Just drag it along the sculpt or paint in the direction you want. You can also use the volume setting to make change directions on only certain parts of the sculpt. Great for making flowing rivers.

If I could go back and give myself advice, it would be to divide my starting goals by about 10, and then divide them again by about 5. Those are the bite sized things I should have started with to build my skillset. Everything I did early on as part of my larger long-term concept, I've had to redo because I did it all wrong the first time. Too detailed, too inefficient, too hideous, etc.

Large maps are hard to do well. You have to be very efficient with your resource usage. I would suggest starting out by making smaller things that are fun to work on and maybe even a little bit silly while you get used to the tools.

By embracing the idea of working on small throw-away things (just to start), you won't feel the frustration of having to constantly go back and clean up after yourself as you realize everything you were doing was wrong.
