If you check out music that's already there you can see it's already very possible to create amazing tracks in Dreams.

Here's an orchestral excerpt of Jupiter made entirely in Dreams with the new instruments: https://indreams.me/element/okmJtykNnEh

BackToMan makes amazing electronic music all in Dreams: https://indreams.me/BackToMan/creations

If you could explain some of the specific problems you have when making music, I can try to help. "I am not able to do any music with Dreams" doesn't give me much to go on ;P

For importing audio with a 4-pole aux cable (presumably), the source you plug into has to be a headset-compatible port so that it will connect to the right poles of the cable to be read as the mic.

Or you can use a USB audio interface. That's actually the best option; people tell me the aux cable method isn't ideal because it's mono and sounds "tinny" (though to my untrained ear it sounds perfect). There's a Behringer audio interface that I know works, and an audio friend of mine uses it for recording. https://www.behringer.com/Categories/Behringer/Computer-Audio/Interfaces/UMC22/p/P0AUX#googtrans(en|en)

The ethos of Dreams is that everything is made in Dreams. From speaking to the devs, they want as much to be able to be done within Dreams as possible, so then not being able to import whole tracks isn't part of the goals of Dreams. And it's not possible because of the 15 second limit, which again isn't a big deal to them. They recommend bringing in stems and reassembling the piece inside Dreams.

It very much depends on the actual track and melody you're talking about. Sorry, I'm not that experienced with the guitar instruments...

Main thing I try is adjusting when the notes end--does it sound better if they stop a little early, a little late, stuff like that.

It most likely needs a minimum amount of charge to actually turn on and connect. Charge it fully, then try again.

I think that's the video I intended to post. It's at least highly-related to the original post. Spyra will have to post a video themselves if their point is different.

I've found when the position is stored it does get back to that position (after a somewhat janky transition). But if the position is not stored it goes to an unhelpful position.

    Here's a video showing this: https://youtu.be/rYC3pdTJ_Rs

So does it use the position of the default top of the window, perhaps? That may explain some similar buggy behaviour regarding window positioning...

Did you perhaps upload a dream and the dream contained the old version of the scene? That would upload that version of the scene and make it the latest version. The newer version should still be there in the version list of the scene? Hopefully?

Sorry yes--scene space is what I meant. Sorry, not used to these terms ;P

I do understand what you're saying, and as I say that change would be good.

Well, I think the current rule is more like, if the shape is being moved in sculpt-space, add more points to the smear. So while you're moving even a tiny bit, it keeps smearing. Maybe that's what you meant anyway--sorry if I misunderstood.

With that in mind, as long as you're not using the grid you're kind of fine because there's always going to be minor movements in your hands. This is why lathing currently works--because people aren't using the grid to do it.

Would be cool if it worked differently, as you say though.

There's a setting on the emitter saying how many it can spawn: "max emitted." https://tapgiles.com/docs/#emitter-max

If you put a named tag in each enemy, you can use a trigger zone to detect those tags. Maybe set its zone shape to "scene" so it doesn't matter where the enemies are; it'll find it anyway. If there's at least one in the scene, because that enemy hasn't been destroyed yet, then it will output a "detected" signal.

When it's not outputting that signal, that means there are no more enemies left. So you can put the "detected" signal through a NOT gate to get a signal while you're "not" detecting any more tags.

    Hi Tobias Lundqvist,

Thank you for reporting the issue, could you provide us with more information please?

Specifically, what happens if you save without undoing the clone? Does the creation stay as you saved it?

Also, have you tried just saving the original sculpt as an external sculpt instead of saving a clone? Is it required that you need a clone? If the clone isn’t required, I would recommend just saving the original sculpt as an external sculpt and seeing what happens.

I understood most of it I think. When you upload something and other creations are uploaded at the same time, it's uploading their versions that are actually linked. So, it would probably be uploading the version that has that shelf in it. This may be an older version. So then that version becomes the "latest" version.

The problem is likely related to that.

Oh interesting... that could be useful for UI and such I guess. The thing is, it's all rendered using the same engine in the scene, so it would probably mean messing with the whole rendering pipeline to allow for this. May not be easy...

I'm not sure what you're looking for. Do you want an output to find out if they are out of focus?

Hello there... Sorry, I'm not sure what features you'd like added. We can already make things that look like clay, and animate them frame-by-frame by turning sculpts on and off.

Mm did an hour long stream showing how you can get that kind of look and do that kind of animation, actually--it's worth checking out! https://youtu.be/BF_uQuW3nwY

This would be cool. But it would also require rendering Dreams twice, which would be worse for performance. Just letting you know why it won't be an easy add.

To be clear, the trick is to leave the mover on so it can still dampen the movement. And wire into the speed to have it move left or right and such.

    TAPgiles commented  ·

If you have high damping on the mover or whatever, then it can be just as responsive.

May I ask why you're not using physics and movers? I have a tutorial series that uses normal physics which makes it waaaaay easier for collision. It shows how to make a non-puppet player-controlled object for 2D games. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLX3qX-yI9vm6FC7y1NeT_fBFD3FSXW7TN

Or you could use a regular puppet with a few settings. All depends on how you want it to work.

Be sure to turn off the running pose (or just the whole pose chip). The keyframe in there is still powering, which means it averages with any other keyframe that's also powered.

Ideally, you'd have the arms part of the running pose out in its own keyframe, so that you can turn just that one off while animating the arms for example.

You could turn things off during the animation by putting a keyframe in there the length of the timeline that turns off a gadget or whatever you need to.

Sure thing--use a selector, wire R3 into "next." It'll start on the A channel, then go to B when you push, and then A, and then B--toggling like that.

Power/trigger whatever you need to with the signal coming from B and it'll send a signal while B is active.

    Here's a tutorial on selectors: https://youtu.be/CYMOldXRK3Y

Yes, I think this is part of how it works. I reported this forever ago, but I think it was archived.
