Yeah, an unfortunate choice of MM calling their puppets 'Puppets' means talk of creating puppets gets confused. I'm not using the Bipedal Puppet Controller. ;) I'm trying to build by own rigs. Although I get the impression I'm pretty much alone in this field. ;)

So the literal requirements without context is really "how can I track a Left Hand Move controller input and map that to objects?" Seems Logic rigging is the way to go with a radio controlled setup.

Putting a Left Hand in a Right Hand has the left hand move independently (it's not in Right Hand local space) and I'm unable to connect geometry across Left Hand and Right Hand scope levels.

I have had some prototype success using a follow tags and remote control that I think I can get working. I can have some Roaming Platform apparatus follow the left hand, position gear in the Left Hand relative to this Roaming Platform, and then adjust the model in the Right Hand based on sensors in the Left Hand controlling it (via Keyframes)

Grouping doesn't work. I tired creating everything as a group with the same fault, and having the objects as a group and the circuits outside the group, with the same fault,

Curiously, taking a basic puppet, using cutout on the head, and rigging it as a mouth, works correctly.

Hiya CLOUD1985 - I've actually identified it as a bug, unless I'm missing something fundamental. Connectors and keyframes break when between objects where one has Imp Follow enabled.

    https://feedback.indreams.me/forums/917431-dreams-bugs/suggestions/40321288-connectors-are-broken-on-objects-with-follow-imp-c

I not fully au fait with object hierachies but I tried every way before realising it was bugged. The easiest proof, create an object with Follow Imp and connect another object with string and it works. Set the elasticity of the string to greater than 0 and the system breaks with the second object collapsing onto the first object's position. Steps outlined in depth in my bug report.

What do you mean by keyframe without that hinge? Just keyframe positions? Just tried that and the top half doesn't follow the bottom half because it's not attached. It just floats in mid air and moves when I press the button, but it doesn't make a head.

This idea also couldn't be extended to puppets that physically collide with the world. Let's say I want to have a puppet who-headbutts his way through a wall and then talks.

Just tried that and it's not working. But overall, the whole hinge thing isn't working. I could hold the head but the button didn't work the jaw which was just loose and wobbly. I then tried tightening the hinge to stop that but the button didn't work. I then tried to change the key-frame but the jaw (hinge) wouldn't open at all even when I turned off tightness. Then I edited the hinge limits and the top head just kinda inverted. :(

I think the problem is the object jumping to the imp's position and not the imp jumping to the objects position. I've noticed it's odd when grabbing an object that it snaps to the imp rather than other way around, although I'm only experimenting very sporadically in Dreams at the moment.

The game is rated Teen/13 and is intended as a family friendly game.

Thanks. Could you provide versions of/a tutorial for the puppets showcased in the 2013 reveal?

It doesn't. But also, precise move (as I've experienced it) is one axis at a time. I'd like to be able to move it two axes and lock out the third. In modelling apps, you tend to have three options

    1) Move one or two axes in object's own XYZ space
    2) Move one or two axes in world's XYZ space
    3) Move one or two axes in camera's current view XYZ space

Dreams only has filters for two of these as I understand it. An option to enable 'lock to camera plain' would be perfect, and then moving the camera around, that plain would still be the one projected on to for moves until reset.

For example, modelling the classic Lock Ness Monster. It's a wavy curve in line. There's no easy way to do this ATM. I guess a workaround would be to place a surface rectangle, draw onto that with an alignment guide, and then delete it.

As TAPgiles states, I think that's how it is. You just have to get used to editing a sculpture and grouping different sculptures to make objects
